Default Enform App Suite & Android

I'm unable to use Enform App Suite -- I get mssg on car screen saying an update is required but then get "download unsuccessful." I have a login for App Suite and have linked my Pandora acct to it. App Suite is installed on my Samsung Galaxy S6, and Bluetooth connection works fine for phone and for streaming, but I cannot get past the "update required" so cannot use the App Suite.

Has anyone been able to use App Suite with Galaxy S6?

Bump

Any Galaxy S6 users of "Enform App Suite" out there? I still can't get past the "update required" message on my RX 350. Don;t know if my problem is my Lexus, my phone, or (gasp!) pilot error.

My brother was having the same issue and after some attempts, we noticed the car would say download failed each time his Galaxy S6 Edge Screen would time out and go black. Samsung has some weird power saving feature that cut the data/wifi signal every time the screen goes blank. Make sure power saver mode is NOT on and that you have deselected any power saving options on your phone. That should allow the car to tap into your 4G or Wifi signal to complete the download.

Try that out and let me know if that works!

Thanks Curryolla. I have tried your suggestion, and it is still no dice for me. In my case the "download" never moves from 0% complete. My phone is not "rooted" but it is an unlocked phone from Thailand and is using a "bring your own phone" chip for AT&T. Other than "Enform App Suite" all other functions like streaming Pandora, making hands free calls, and Enform Remote all work fine.

Hmm... are you trying to download while connected to a 3G, 4G, or Wifi Network? As your phone is a GSM AT&T phone, I'm assuming you have 4G and some data plan. Have you tried downloading Enform App Suite with your phone connected to 4G data with Wifi turned off?

I notice that sometimes when I'm in the garage or outside my house, my Wifi is either really strong or really weak. Let me know what connection you are using.

If not, try visiting your dealer. Maybe the download can be installed from another phone (like the technology specialist), and then that phone can be removed from the car once the download is complete.

Yep, I turned WiFi off before installing the app on my phone, and also off while in the car trying to do the download/update. I like your idea of trying to use some other phone to get the download/update accomplished. Then maybe my own phone will be able to use the App Suite.

thanks

Yep, I think it might be best to try using another phone for the update. Your technology specialist at your local Lexus dealer is the best source of information and help on everything related to Enform. Keep us (or at least me) posted.

Maybe other members on the forum have ideas?

Is your phone connected to the car via Bluetooth? Try connecting it via USB? The car software updates using data through your phone.

I am not certain but I but I think Lexus Enform "over the air" updates work the same way as updates for the premium version of Toyota Entune - which is different than what people are describing in this thread. Updates to in-dash Entune are not really "over the air".

An Entune update is first downloaded to the phone from Google play. Besides updating the Entune phone app, the download from Google Play includes all data necessary to update the vehicle's in-dash Entune.

Each time the in-dash Entune starts, it checks with Entune on the phone to see if an update is available. If an update is available (i.e. has been downloaded to the phone from Google Play), it is downloaded from the phone to the in-dash Entune. Nothing is pulled from the Internet during this update process so it doesn't matter if the phone is connected to the Internet via WiFi or the phone network.

What may be going on here is that an incomplete or damaged update has been downloaded to the phone. If the Enform app on your phone allows you to delete its data or clear cache, then try that first. If not, you might try deleting and reinstalling the Enform app on your phone.

I had similar "download unsuccessful" failures a couple of times when updating Entune in my wife's Prius and I resolved the problems by taking actions like I described above.

Yes dchar, I just tried using USB connection in my car and still no love.

Kansas, I've actually uninstalled the phone app and reinstalled many times without effect. In fact I've tried 2 identical Galaxy phones and the in-dash download never gets started. Both phones are unlocked and from Thailand using AT&T "bring your own phone" SIM, and I'm betting that is my problem. Still planning to try the download/update using someone's iPhone when I get the chance.

Thanks all for your thoughtful advice.

Well, finally borrowed a friend's iPhone, installed "Lexus Enform App Suite" on it and loaded my credentials in. Was then able to perform the download/update to my RX. After doing that, the App Suite works OK using my Samsung Galaxy S6! So my problem is "worked around" if not exactly solved. Good at least 'til the next mandatory update to Enform.

Hope this experience helps anyone else stuck at the update.
