Default Fuel filler door not latching

i just noticed my fuel door isn't latching closed, when the car is unlocked. I mean, I can pull the door open without pushing it in first. It locks fine. And remains flush even when unlocked.
Has anyone experienced this, or have ideas? Just out of warranty now, so asking before I take it in and have to have an argument with the dealer. Thanks.

Same thing has happened to me. The gas cap is on the cord... twist the bottom of the cord in where it is attached to the gas tank cover and I bet it fixes your issue.

Thanks, that helps with the position, making it flush, which seems to have been the issue in that other thread, but my problem is the latching mechanism. Am I wrong in assuming the door should be secured when the car is unlocked? Should I be able to grab the edge and open it without pushing it in?

You should not be able to open it without pushing it in.

i've experienced a similar issue. the thing that worked for me (maybe it won't work for everyone) was to leave the tank cover as is, turn on the car, wait a minute, shut the tank cover, turn off the car, then tested by locking/unlocking the car and it was fine.

I'm going with a defective latch. Thanks all.
