Default Which parts of the oem rotors rust?

Ive heard the oem rotors have rusting issues. I just received a new set of oem rotors and they look pretty nice--hub and vanes are all painted black (except for the hub face). Which parts end up rusting or are the rotors now coated better than previously?

I guess when reading about the rusting I assumed they were not coated as they are with the black finish-I'm assuming the black areas won't rust??

The painted areas resist rust pretty well if you clean off the brake dust. If you get the OEM rotors really hot, they will show corrosion, but not where they are painted. Mine looked corroded after my first track weekend, but it cleaned off with very little effort and revealed clean paint underneath.

Whats the difference between the oem compared to stoptech/centric rotors in terms of performance? I planning to replace mine end of this month. Any inputs please.

I've had pretty good luck with Stoptech rotors overall and I have Centric on my car until tomorrow and have no complaints at all with them. You're probably good either way, I'm guessing the pads are much more important than any three of the rotor options.

But please, DO NOT use the Stoptech pads--they are AWFUL. Decent bite but dusty and they squeel like pigs--mine have 7k miles on them and I am throwing them away tomorrow--I wouldn't even give them away to anyone on the site if they wanted them. They are that bad.

Thanks for the heads up! May i know where did you purchase your rotors, i saw the pricing in amazon which is half the price ($116) compare to what the stealership is asking, review says made in italy. Now im thinking from centric to brembo.

I got the Brembos off of eBay. All 4 in a set and had them in 48 hours post ordering!

Like I said, nothing bad at all to say about the Centrics--they are good rotors and well protected from corrosion.

I am running slotted rotors on the front in my ISF. Slotted rotors are now used on the RCF and GSF. Lexus must have seen this light. See this thread:

This is the condition after about 1-2 thousand miles.
However I looked today and seems in the fins are starting to be covered in corrosion. These were also identical setup. Brembo with ns400.

btw, did I bed in my pads properly? The rotors have a "machine" fine line look on the rotors

Currently minimal dust / decent braking - unsure if I should go for another bed-in

Looks normal to me based on my rotors when I had the NS400 pads. My rotors always appeared bright & shiny with those pads.. I guess it's a characteristic of the non-metallic material.. They don't seem to leave much of a transfer layer.
