Default What did you do to/for your sc430 today?

Starting this thread with the hope everyone enjoys it. It gives a place to show even little things that one wouldn't start a thread for. This is a very popular thread on the BMW forum I'm on. Popular enough it was made a sticky on that forum.

So i'll start. I gave mine a full detail today inside and out.
I tried the turtle wax jet black, black endurance-shine tire coat kit. Hope it lasts longer and looks better than the silicone based tire dressings.

It doesn't seem to be hitting anybody's fancy over here though.

I installed the replacement temperature control unit today.

This morning I picked up a desiccant bag for the car which will supposedly help prevent fogging and frost from forming on the windows. We shall see soon.

Later, if I can find the time, I would like to finish up my center console mod.

I like the idea of this thread. I think activity has just been down here recently. It always comes and goes in these forums, especially with a specific model forum like this one.

Yes, I guess it is winter now, and a convertible car. I kinda forgot with it still being warm here. Lol you would think I lived here longer than just one year. I think this kinda thread helps instill pride in even the small things one does to take care of their car. I know even when I just get new tires I'm excited.

Recently I managed to take off centre control panel to check the motorized door radio panel. moves fine but doesnt work. im trying to look for the fuse (if it were separate), but I only found one radio fuse (RADIO NO.1). read in some other threads that the gears could be off its hinges, but the movement (manual pulling and pushing) seems fine. Could it be a bad switch as some members said it could be?

Well, let's look at the possibilities. Could be a fuse, the switch, switches in the mechanism itself, wiring issue, bad motor, broken gears, or misaligned mechanism.

We can eliminate at least some of those with two questions:

1. Does the door button light up?
2. When you press it, do you hear the motor running?

I will double check on it later. But initial diagnosis were answers to both will be no. It doesn't light up and motor doesn't seem to be running.

If it doesn't light up, I would suspect the wiring or the plug going in to the switch.

The light is just connected to the illumination circuit used throughout the car. The switch goes to a circuit board on the door that controls the motor. The only thing the two have in common is that plug/harness.

On mine, it was wire tied rather tightly. If the plug is not loose, it could be broken wiring at the zip tie.

There are two clips on either side of the switch which will let you pull the switch out for easier inspection.

I just noticed you are in Brunei. My fiance was working overseas there when we met. She was in Seria/Kuala Belait.

I'm not missing the snow. I think it's bad enough at 65 and rainy today.
