Pete,

Thanks for the news. That picture looks like a Ford 5.0 (302). I know many Australian cars use American OHV V8 engines including GMs LS1 series in the Holdens.

Of course now that I traded my 96 LS400... somebody goes and creates a supercharger system at a reasonable price!

Now I have a 99 LS400. Going with such a setup does not seem ideal for mine. I have been thinking along the lines of a 90 degree power take-off/supercharger drive similar to a very small rear differential. This would alow the mounting of an Eaton type blower in a more advantageous place under the hood. Just a dream at this point but.... who knows.

Anyway, please keep us updated with this as it developes.

Also, I have read your site frequently and really appreciate all the hard work you have gone through to share your developements. It is with your data that I decided to modify my LS400 air intake. You may have read my thread on it. I have some pics I will post probably later today.

One thing I would love to have is a better "Y" pipe. As you know the stock cats dump into apx 2.25" diameter pipes that are only a couple inches long and are cut and welded at an angle and quickly neck down into what looks like 1.75" pipes that join at the Y. At the angle welded junction the O2 sensors jut into the exhaust flow (much like at the stock header collector area)... None of these areas looks effective for high speed exhaust flow. This Y pipe looks very similar for the SC and LS model V8s. Please advise if you know of an available good flowing part that is bolt in.

Thanks.

Thankyou for your interest, the marine kit will not fit the car, but we are developing the car kit now.

We will be taking orders shortly so we can get the tooling started so we will be intouch in the next couple of days.

The supercharger is what we call a YT 1500 which is actually an Eaton M90 rotating group assembled with Aussie cast body components under licence. This configuration has better mounting points and a little more efficient in operation.

But for the real performance enthusiest the kit will also take a Twin Screw Opcon if big boost is required but this is not necessarry for street application.

Subject: Supercharger kit for Lexus 4.0

Hello,

There are many people in the United States are interested in your Lexus 4.0 Marine Kit. I have few questions for you.

1. Would your kit fit the Lexus 1UZFE cars. ie Lexus LS and SC 400 here in United States

2. What type of root style supercharger are you using? ie, Eaton? MP112?

3. If everything fit, can we do a group purchase? Once again, we have alot younger Lexus owners are very interested in getting power adders.

Your response will be greatly appreciated.

Don't know of a bolt in part - but any exhaust shop should be able to custom fabricate the part you are looking for - it isn't that hard to make.:
http://www.magnaflow.com/03hardware.htm
sell mandral bends and preformed y-pipes which may just be what you are looking for.

Otherwise get a complete custom system with four UltraFlow mufflers to keep it queit and still get that lovely V8 tone.
http://www.dynomax.com/ultrafloss.stm
I prefer the dynomax to magnaflow mufflers - they look stock, have a larger chamber and sound better - these are the ones fitted to my car.
The advantage of going full custom is that you then have two exhausts - the custom one can be mild steel pipe - just stainless mufflers.

The most accurate way to test an intake is to lash out and spend $3 on a U-tube manometer.
http://www.users.bigpond.com/pgscott...irIntakes.html
gives some figures to aim for - only way to see if your intake is charging the system etc.

The 99 LS400 is a beautiful car with a great motor. Sounds like your investigations are well on the way!
best regards

Will this kit fit without any hood modifications such as needing a hood scoop or something?

It will fit under an SC hood, so perhaps it will also fit under an LS hood too.

Pete, I believe the engine is much closer to the SC/Soarer hood than in the LS so as you said, it should work well in an LS from 90-97 model years with the side mount throttle body. As you probably know the 98+ engines have a variable area intake manifold with a front mount throttle body. I would love to keep this manifold and add an Eaton 112 blower with an intercooler... This would probaby require the 90 degree drive I already mentioned.

As far as this current offereing, when do you expect they will release pictures of the Lexus install? Also, you said this system should cost LESS than $3000 USD? That is VERY cheap for a fully engineered forced induction system. I advise anyone wanting real power from their LS to give this high consideration. One more question, this kit is to include a piggy back ECU with injectors. Is this going to be like 2 injectors at the throttle or is it going to be an 8 injector upgrade? Again, either way, very cheap!

Yes, I agree that the mamometer is a good idea as is a fast responding air temp sensor/gauge. I wonder how much trouble it would be to design one around an automotive intake manifold air temp sensor? Would be a nice tool. Or, maybe just a way to data log the cars actual air temp readings and other readings... now that would be a GREAT tool.

As far as my mod goes, I have pretty much opened up both the filter housing and the engine compartment as far as practical. I would have to bend and/or cut metal to get more cold air to the air filter area. Since I do not plan on doing that I have what I have and will get some track numbers soon to find out the change in power (assuming there is one).
