Default Sewell Lexus, sewellpartsonline.com - Tested and Approved - Lexus SMART Card

The Lexus SMART card available from the new LS460 has now been tested and confirmed to work with all Lexus models using the SMART Access key fob or specifically the 2006-2008 IS250/350, 2006-2008 GS300/350/430/450h and the 2007-2008 ES350. Use promo code 909RK to receive the SMART card for only ____. Click the image below for details.

Special pricing can be received by using 909RK as your promo code during the checkout process.

Important - while the SMART card offers a very fancy and convenient method of gaining entry into your Lexus, the emergency entry key associated with the SMART card is not available and cannot be used with the aforementioned models. In other words, should the battery become compromised, then no alternative entry can be made to your vehicle until the battery (CR2412) can be replaced.

Should anyone have any questions or comments regarding the following, we welcome your thoughts. Please contact us during normal business hours, 7 to 7 CST, 888.909.6633.

**Online promotional codes are available for online use only and are not valid via phone or email. If you experience any technical problems with our website and/or any promotional code, please take a moment to give us your error information to us directly at Web Support.

How do you program it? Or can you open anyone's car?

I am VERY interested in this. I have 3 questions though.

1. Will the Smart Card have full functionality as my original smart key fob?

2. Are there any buttons (lock, unlock, trunk, panic) on the Smart Card?

3. How hard is it to program the Smart Card. Can I do it myself or do I have to take it to the dealership?

The Lexus SMART card appears to be just a black plastic card - the size of a credit card. On one end, is the battery to which can be replaced very easily. On the other end is where the would-be wallet key would be placed - though for all non-LS models, the key would not apply. There are no buttons or other type of gadgetry that gives further functionality beyond giving the ability for keyless entry.

The SMART card would be the alternative to carrying your existing key fob - just an option.

^^^ I don't think there's a limit. As long as the program on the key fob matches the one on the car, then it should work. Don't qoute me on that one though.

Default Difference between this offer and the LS smart key offer

What's the difference between this part and the LS460 part? 89904-50640-RK vs 89904-50640-LSKIT? Other than the lower price?

To program a key, your Lexus must be available at the time of programming, therefore upon receipt of the SMART card or any other remote key for that matter must be programmed to your Lexus for the key to properly function. The programming of the SMART card is the same as programming your current key fob.

For the LS460, there is the available key (inserted into the end of the SMART card). This key is what determines the additional cost.

For the not LS460 models, the key does not apply therefore not needed and subsequently a lesser price.

This promotion along with the other "keys" promotion we have listed are one in the same. Both use promo code 909RK. Neither are group buys, just a special offer or promotion. We received numerous emails and phone calls about the LS460 SMART card we felt we had to create a different post to address the specific SMART card questions.

In a manner of speaking, yes there will be a "hole" or a vacancy on the end to which the alleged key would reside. We felt since the card is to be used discretely in a purse or wallet, the vacancy would not be a concern.

To be perfectly frank, since the frequencies are different between the two fobs in question I didn't even attempt to program one.

Sorry for all the questions but there is no way I can program the key myself? I'm just curious since I'm not sure if the dealership would happily program the key card to my car knowing it's not made for it. I can see them giving me a hard time or should all Lexus dealership know about this and should program it with no problem for free?

From what I've read on the GS and LS forums, it costs ~$50 to program at any Lexus dealership. I don't think they will do it for free, but you can try. They shouldn't give you any trouble about it. It should be the same process as programming the original key fob.
