Lexus-back to making the GS top notch in quality
Seems the GS (and ES) are on Lexus radar for problems. The production lines now are super tight on both these cars. They are continuing to ask from dealers any information from these cars.
Nothing or no one has been blamed but interally, they have recognized the problem and fixing it as we speak.
Good news!

Well they better be...It really upset me the other day when I rented a cheap Mitsubishi Lancer that didn't squeak and rattle every time it hit a small bump in the road...on the other hand I was convinced that the Mitsubishi's stereo was actually broken because it sounded so muffled , of course earlier that day I was demoing Hotel California (Hell Freezes Over - Live) to some of my friends in 5.1 surround...

Running Changes
Don't they make revisions and running changes during the model year with issues that are addressed in TSB's and technical network feedback? Even Chevrolet did this when I worked for a Chevrolet dealership as far back as the 1980's.

I don't own a 3GS, but it seems that many people have been complaining of rattles and squeeks. The more alarming issue, I think, is with the ES tranny... yes those owners with problems may be a vocal minority. But there is no excuse for a new Lexus to have those problems. Glad they are on top of things!

It's unfortunate that the IS isn't on their "radar" as well. My IS350 has been mechanically flawless over the past year, but has enough rattles to make it embarrassing to have people in the car with me.

Even if you take something ridiculously simple like the trunk carpet mat out of the 2nd Gen GS and compare it to the 3rd Generation Trunk carpet mat, the differences will be obvious - even to the accountant that decided they could save a couple bucks by a flimsy trunk carpet mat. What???????? - They didn't think we'd notice??
I think the 3rd Gen GS has much cheaper materials than the 2nd Gen GS - All across the board. The Leather etc. etc. - I posted this about 4-5 months ago, when I first got the car. Don't take me wrong I still love the car, but I noticed a cheapened quality when compared to the 2nd Gen GS.

only problem I had originally was the cracking/ticking sound.
since then I just did my 10K checkup 2K overdue, but everything seems good.
No problems.... knock on wood....
