Default Google is your friend!

I found this interesting link. It's for the '04, but the drivetrain is identical from '04 through '06. Enjoy!

Thanks.

Wow, the RX has a pretty low redline. But it's not we're out to race or anything with the exception of one member I think.

Good finding. Good choice of cars you owned Though both AV6/TL and RX's tranny are weak

Thanks! Funny you mention the trannies... The one on the TL-S is probably the worst in the Honda lineup, yet mine never gave me trouble in 30k miles. It was everything else that was wrong with the car!

The tranny in the '01 Accord is still strong at 74k miles (knock on wood ). It's also covered through 100k miles, and by then, hopefully we'll get the GX another Lexus to share the garage with . I am dying to know (many of us in CL are, I guess!) if they will put the 3.5L in the RX hybrid in the near future... That has made me delay any purchasing decisions. A 300+ hp RX450h would be ...

Yes, I am also holding on to upgrade my RX300. Current offer of RX350 is a filler model.
My 00 TL's tranny took a dump around 80K, got the new tranny and good so far for 40K .
I just bought a case of Amsoil Synthetic Universial ATF that complies to both Honda Z1 ATF and Toyota T-IV. Since both cars have powertrain warranties expire, I am going with better fluid to prolong lives of these troublesome trannies. Hey, at least I don't have to go to different places for tranny fluid

Time will tell but already there is a recall. I would not put my $ on it

Same with RX350, if your believe Lexus carries same legancy design from RX300/RX330.

I'm not holding my breath either... 5-spd auto trannies on TLs, MDXs , Odysseys and Accords are all suspicious, and I'm even wondering about the RL, since I've also read some minor complaints. Now, the 4-spd on the old RL was rock solid. My Acura ownership experience was unfortunately less-than-stellar, so I don't intend to go back to the brand anyway, but I still like to stay informed on the Acura lineup, car issues, etc.

TunedRX300, what's your username over there at A-zine? Did you see the threads on the 6spd MT conversion on a '00 TL like yours? One of the mods is running 2 threads: one with updates and the other one with pictures. Pretty fascinating stuff! He's the first one to try this.

I feel like we're deviating from the topic, but then again, we are talking trannies, and part of the thread title is gear ratios, so I guess we're still on topic.LOL

PMed you.
Back on topic, from my personal experiece, RX's tranny is little better than Acura trannies, only because I know there are members on his third tranny but over there, someone just blew his 5th. Guess who is fed up and putting a 6 speed manual tranny from the 03 CLS into his TL?

I agree, I love discussing this stuff!

I just find that sometimes on threads like this someone (a mod or other member) will say something about staying on topic.. So, I thought I would preclude that by highlighting how we are still on topic!

It is also ironic that out of 6 blown trannies, the one lasted the least is the one he drained and filled with Honda Z1 ATF most frequent @ every 8000 miles. He also added an external tranny cooler.
This just showed there is no substitutation for a good tranny design. Anyone at Toyota listening?

I have a 04 TL, so far nothing wrong with the Tranismission... I know some of the earlier 04's had a recall about their transmission.

Knock on Wood* nothing happens to my tranny

So why is it that the Acura's trannies go bad?
