Default SC500 (!!) due in 2008 and SC200 due in 2007

The replacement for SC430 will be the SC500 and it will be available in 2008. It will look like a larger, more elegant version of the LF-C.

Lexus will also start selling a two-door convertible, the SC200, based on the LF-C concept in 2007.

So do not expect a SC300 anytime soon..

Default SC500

Lexus really need to start offering a performance version like the AMG from Mercedes.

Don't always trust Autospies, they often get their info here.

SC200 ? May not be good enough even for the European/Asian market. They won't offer it here for sure.

I can't quote my source, becaus eI do not remember it, but an auto show I aw on TV asid that Lexus will be coming out with a "high performance" line, similar to BMW's M line and MB"s AMG line. Noit sure how soon that will be though....

The SC 200 does not make sense. Usually the number following the letters of each models designation denotes the liters of each models engine size. So the SC 200 must be a 2.0, four cylinder engine. Lexus will not build a car for the U.S with that size of an engine. Sure there are IS 200's outside of the U.S., maybe that's where Lexus might market these cars(SC 200). As for the U.S I'm sure they will bring back the SC 300 based on the LF-C (Luxury Future - Coupe) concept. That would be awesome and can't wait.

I couldn't agree more, Cadillac now has its "V" performance variant and even Chrysler will be offering an "SRT" version of the Crossfire w/330hp, will probably hit 0-60 in less than 5 secs.

Let's hope they join the rest of the planet and include a sequential manual gearbox too.

I agree.
A SMG would be the best of both worlds.

So, the new IS series will have a convertible with a four banger?? I thought the LF-C was a convertible for the new IS coupe coming out!!? And why would they go with a four cylinder engine? Like the sound of the SC 500, but the "200" part is probably not good news, if any of this is true to begin with!! I wouldn't spend close to $70K (or whatever the SC 500 would be) on a larger version of a lower tier four cylinder car. This would be marketing stupidity for Lexus IMO!!

There's no way in hell we'll see a Lexus convertible with a 4 banger... unless gas prices get above $3 There's not even an IS with a 4 banger now. That's for Europe, and possibly a Toyota variant (a Supra?), if at all. The platform has space for the 4.3 V8, so we'd probably see both a 6 and an 8 with a Lexus badge. Still a couple of years away though.

Absolutely ELP JC. That didn't make sense to me either. Besides, the convertible in question is for the IS anyway, and not the SC replacement. Hey, you got over 700 miles on yours yet!!!?? I still say I'll buy any of your used vehicles anytime!!

I've got 1,150 Doc (in 7 months); I'll keep taking care of it for you
My wife gives me a hard time I take care of my cars for somebody else. I'm going to start using it a little more. My intentions are to keep this one for a long time; we'll see, I guess.
Have a great week.
