Thumbs up UPDATED (8/16/03) : Official LexusDragon Atlanta Caravan Information

8-03-2003 UPDATE:

There has been some response that the currently proposed drive is too long (approx. 3.5 hours). I have another route that takes a much more direct route and skips many of the twisties. I had planned to use this route on the way home Saturday afternoon but if there are some that would rather take the short route I will ask the second group leader (I need two since the group is pretty big) to take the shorter route. It is about 2 hours.

I assumed since Saturday the schedule is actually pretty light that most people would want to try as many roads as they could, especially since getting there by 7 or 7:15pm would still leave about an hour before dinner that the timing worked but I might be wrong.

Is there any interest in this? How many people would rather take a shorter route on the way up? I will take the long way no matter what but don't want to drag along anyone who doesn't care to take that long to get there.

---

Ok,

Here is the plan. We will meet at the Waffle House off of exit 13 on GA400 on Friday, August 22 at 3pm. There is not much at all at this exit so the Waffle House is easy to find, it's on the east side of GA400.

The plan is to leave at 3:30pm SHARP! We can't wait long after 3:30pm as the route we will be taking is almost 200 miles long and will have us there around 7-7:30pm at night. The sun won't be setting in Robbinsville that weekend until around 8:15pm so until 7:45pm we should have some pretty good daylight.

I will have packages available for everyone who pre-registers for this with me on this site; after that you'll just have to keep up... Oh, and we will be running through the Dragon's Tail to get to Robbinsville...

If you are attending the caravan PLEASE PM me with your cell phone and I will respond with mine.

PLEASE RESPOND TO THIS THREAD IF YOU INTEND TO COME AND ADD YOUR NAME TO THE LIST BELOW SO I HAVE AN ACCURATE COUNT OF WHO WE ARE WAITING ON.

Attendees:
cdawg - Atlanta
bitkahuna - Atlanta
1sicklex - Atlanta
freelance - So Fla.
vvt-i - Alabama
kaygee - Atlanta
jaimecbr900 - Atlanta
jruhi4 - So Fla.
mumbles - Atlanta

(also update if you don't want your name on this list...)

Either way you want. Now that I think about it, I think that leaving from the dealership is probably going to be closer to 400 anyway. My office is off Indian Trail near Hwy 29. I may just meet you at the dealership. Which way were you planning on going?

Nuum and I are meeting somewhere and then going to the Waffle House. You're more than welcomed to meet us. Although is probably going to be out of the way to meet us and then go back to 400 since you're coming from that direction anyway. Either way is fine with me.

I appreiate that offer, but if we are driving all that way the less we have to stop the better, so it sounds like Waffle house is a good spot to meet, now all i need is an address to plug into a map finder, then I'll be set.

Anyone near the waffle house that could grab their address for me.

Hey Freelance,

Look at the original post in the message at the starting point for the route... it contains the address you are looking for...

Guys, there is a gentleman with a Supra that may join up with you as you pass through north Georgia. I've sent him a link to this thread and will let you know if timing, etc. works out for him to join you for the Atlanta caravan as you pass by his area.

Hey 1sick, can you (or somebody else from the ATL crew in the caravan) please hook up with the Supra guy via AIM or email to work out the details on where to meet him as the caravan cruises through Hiawassee?

His AIM is k3turbo
