Default Test and Tune.....Feb 23rd.... ATL Dragway

my brother mentioned to me that the dragway has test and tune sessions during the offseason. from what i hear its open to everyone. i for one am going on the 23rd of Feb and make a few passes and i wanted to know if any other members would like to meet up there and run and just hang. since there is so much talk on this board and so little verification, i thought this might end a little of the speculation. i dont know the times, whether its during the day or night but i will check it out tomorrow and get some more info. so how bout sick, dex, dave, bit, et al, whaddaya say?

Hmmm, sounds very interesting. I'll have to check with the boss - she'll probably want to come too to run her nsx.

Of course my tuning will be limited to turn off AC, turn off VSC, power mode on, press gas Maybe one run with spare tire, one without.

Couple of questions:
Do you have any idea on costs and start/end times?
Do you know if they also have a dyno onsite?
Where is the dragstrip (hopefully north of the city)?

What's up Doc? Sorry, had to say that....

If my flight schedule permits, I will be there. I've been wanting to run the Blue Ox at a strip for a while now, just to see some real papers with times. aka Timeslips.

I'm sure once we go, it'll become an obsession.

tlked to people at atl dragway. the t&t is on sat feb 23rd. it starts at 9 am and goes until 6 pm. the price is gonna b between 15 and 25 for the day, and anyone can run 'em. the drag is at exit 149, about 25 miles inside of ga, for those thinking about coming from NC (dex, dave). like i said it would be cool if we could get some guys to go up there and just hang out and check out each others cars. dave, please tell you lady to bring her ac, i would love to see it. anyways thats all for now. will talk to you guys later. let me know if you wanna get down.

checking mapquest confirmed what i thought, the quickest way is to come thru atlanta. take 75s to 285n to 85 n to exit 149. real easy. perhaps you can meet up with a few of us in atl and we can caravan it. holla.

Rick

Do you have a street address for this place so we can do a mapquest?

Also -do you know if we can run side-by-side for this event or is it one-at-a-time only.

Default Some more info

The dragstrip replied to my email questions (some dups of what Dr Rick found out).

1) What's the cost for the day to run and start/end times?
2) Typically how busy will this day be (how many runs can I expect to get in)?
** Answers ** Gates open at 9:00 am
Time runs start approx 10:30 and end around 5:00
Admission - $20 to race $10 spectator

3) When you line up for test & tune do you run individually or in pairs? Can you setup pairs and run against a friend?
** Answer ** pairing is possible depending on car count, we'll try for you

4) What safety equipment is required (personal and car)?
** Answer ** If a street car you'll only need probably a seat belt or if it runs quicker than a 13.99 you will need a helmet snell 90

5) Do you (or someone) have a dyno onsite or nearby to get hp baselines as well as times?
** Answer ** no dyno

Good work Dave.

The tuning most of us can do will be 'Reset your ECU'

Man, I'm stoked!

Ooo oo oo, I want a piece of the NSX, side-by-side

She's such a good driver, she'll probably tax my *** like the IRS..

dave,

they usually have dynos at the bigger, national events. since this is like "pre-season", i wouldnt have expected them to have it. sorry i forgot to mention in the email about the safety reqs. basically the lady said the same thing that you go in the email.........as long as your car isnt faster that 9.90, you can run it w/out helmet and roll cage. so will we see you there?
