Default Cleaning AC filters?

How can I clean AC filters in 94 GS300? I noticed, when I put on the AC, or heater, it blows a lot of dust into the car during the first few seconds.

Our first gen gs don't have a AC filter, but you can clean out the area where a filter can go and even go to home depot and buy some home ac filter to install in the same area..Under the dash on the passenger side there is a plastic cover that pops off and then you will see another cover that has 2 wing nuts.Remove the wing nuts and then remove that cover and you will see the area that I'm talking about..Sometimes you will see leaves and other things in there and you could just vaccum it out and then make a filter to go in there..Hope this helps...BTW-If your still confused use the search feature...

Most likely they won't sell a filter that fits into the car without cutting it, so what size filter should I buy from Home Depot so I can cut it to fit into our car? Thanks.

People have used the washable blue air filter and simply cut it down to size..Use whatever filter can be trimmed..It should clean the air that goes into the car..

You can get the A/C filter from any Lexus dealership. I found mine for around $40. Takes about 20 minutes to clean out all the junk that's accumulated in that duct over the past decade and about 2 seconds to actually install the filter.

So, that means the dealership sells the filter that will exactly fit first gen gs, but the car itself comes without it?

Thats correct...I think you need to ask for a filter for a newer gs though..Or just go to home depot..

Ok, so I removed the black cover, unscrewed the two wing nuts, but everything still seems to be tigh in place... Do I need to unscrew anything else?

If I'm not mistaken you have to pull down on the cover..It should come down with little force..

Yes, they do. Very few GSs came with it. It was an option that most people didn't opt for. Make sure you get the one for the first gen, though. I found mine through one of the dealers on parts.com.

Do you still have the part #? I tried to explain that to the Lexus dealer here but he just looked at me funny.
