Do you think the scratches are that bad?

Here is a picture of one of them. I have another similar scrape on the other side...

Yes, I have found the inspectors and LFS to be pretty accommodating but this needs to be fixed and you can best have it done before the inspection. There is something about a certain dollars amount of damage to EACH of the four corners of the car that could come into play. I would have it repaired.

If purchasing do you remember whether or not you still had to take your vehicle through their inspection process? Know it was a long time ago and policies may have changed though. I'd be doing a cash deal as well.

No, if you purchase the car they don't care about the condition or the mileage.

FWIW I have never turned in a leased car, I have always traded out of them so mileage and condition have never been an issue.

You can also just trade it like any other car..Ive never ended up in a winning situation on a lease.

Oh I have. I've traded in leased cars multiple times and pocketed money over the residual.

I think it depends how many miles someone is below their lease allowance.

Why is it hard to stay under it? The national average is like 14,000 miles per year, you simply select a lease that provides more miles than you drive on average...and viola you're under the mileage.

A lease is only good for people who need a lower payment and always want a car payment.. Plus negotiating more mileage can be done, but it isnt free...Some people drive a lot of miles a year, some dont...If one gets a car and will keep it for many years, leasing is not a good option..

If you want to buy a car and keep it a long time, why would you lease?

Just because it isn't good for you doesn't mean it isn't something that works for others. Plenty of people want a new car every few years, they don't have an issue staying within the mileage requirements of a lease, and for them (that describes me) leasing works great. If you can deduct the lease for business that's a great added bonus (which I also can do).

Nobody's trying to talk you into leasing, so why the energy talking is out of leasing?

Tehn by all means...go for it....most people can't make that deduction...and many people do not stay under the mileage limit..if it works best for u....then good for you..
