the smoking on start up that goes away is usually valve stem seals. not a biggie just burning off some oil until they warm up, eventually you may want to get them changed if you ever take the heads off. its probably not the headgasket though if it stopped overheating.

That sounds great! I definitely have that minor ticking sound on cylinder #7 (the one that sounds like a lifter), so my understanding is that this is part of the valve shim that is not in the optimal position.
But I can promise you that I have great compression on all cylinders, and this thing MOVES! I also did the first gas treatment to clean all valves (when I was nearly on empty). So, hopefully that will help with all of my valves.
I do live in a place where I must pass emission testing, so that's coming up later this year. I have this year and next year for the test, and then I'll be exempt.
My only leak under the car right now is the stupid power steering pump (standard leak for this car).
See you, and God bless!

Ali, I need to do that. Is there a tutorial or video, or should I just buy a milk container, cut it and place it there somewhere? What's your suggestion, I need it, thanks!

I think its a Clorox bleach plastic jug, then trimmed to fit.
check out on ebay search "sc400 alternator shield" there are people selling it for $25.. lol
If you can make a trip to the store and spend about 5 minutes trimming and making 3 holes, you can DIY pretty easily.

looks like this

Guys, the car is still going great! So great, that I have a court date on 6/5 with the Atlanta Police Dept.. Hopefully, I can get my Super Speeder Summons (86 in a 55) reduced.

Quick question: The dust cover on my tensioner is rattling now. Which way does that thing tighten? Left or right? Is this one of those reverse-thread parts? And, can't I just take that cover off, but to do so, do I have to take out the whole engine cover? I don't want to do anything since I have the car humming with all new parts.

Let me know when you get a chance. Thanks, and God bless!
