Use the cigarette lighter or another source the only has power when the car is on.

Didn't you start another thread where we went through this already? If not, here's your options:
1. Look through the diagrams and find the colored wire that kicks on the amplifier in the trunk. Recommended to use a voltmeter to check car on/car off power to the amp via that wire.
2. Run a wire either from the fuse block or from the cigarette lighter in the dash back to the amp for kick on. There are fuse taps that can help get a solid connection from in the fuse area.
3. Use a voltmeter (if you don't like drawings) and test pins on one of the amp wiring harnesses for 12v when car is on, 0v when car is off. Similar to #1, you'll need to vampire tap or otherwise get a solid connection from this wire.

If you have little to no car electronic experience, ask a friend to assist - or, have a local shop do it. I'm not even close to where you live, so I'm of little more help than the other thread I posted in - but the above diagram should give you solid information on where this wire is.

Re-reading the diagrams for both NAV and NON-NAV that SICK350 posted, each one uses a GRAY wire to the amp to provide "car-on" power. This can be used for remote switching of the amplifier. My car amp layout is different due to being non-nav, but again - you're looking for a GRAY wire. This will be a thinner wire - probably in a connector with a bunch of other thinner signal wires. To easily test this:
1. remove connector from amplifier in trunk (don't worry, this won't hurt the amp or the dash unit, even when turning car on or off.)
2. turn on car (not running, but 2 presses of start button without foot on brake)
3. Connect black lead of multimeter to chassis ground, set meter to 20v or similar if not autoranging
4. Touch red probe to pin in connector for gray wire. Got 12v? good. move to next step. If not, find another gray wire (or test other wires if you feel I'm wrong.)
5. Turn car off.
6. Re-test gray wire. 0v? good.

Then grab some small vampire taps and install.

Again, if any of this is something you haven't done before - it can be daunting, but trust me - it's simple. Get a friend who's done amp installs before and it'll be a piece of cake.
5.
