I have to agree with one of the previous posters who suggested that the liquid that leaked out is, in fact, something similar to an antifreeze and acts as a heating agent to heat the mirror glass...

This is a great option. I hate the narrow OEM ones on my RX. So much so, that I always keep it folded up: I can never rest my arm on it comfortably.
