What do you mean, "of course"? The non-F is unworthy of consideration? Frankly the 250 F-sport makes about no sense, to me.

The S3 is no more a "sissy" car than the 3IS is. What, you think "real men" drive Lexus?

They are both good cars, with differing design trade-offs.

FWD is the "norm" in cheaper cars, yes. The front-heaviness is a drawback, despite what magic can be done with torque-vectoring differentials and such.

Speaking of differentials, the S3 does not...

Me too, but damn, it would be nice to have a manual. A buddy of mine just bought a Ford Focus ST, and I was a bit jealous, watching him shift.

I'm glad I don't have it. What a silly reason to add more cost, weight, and complexity to a car.

The folding mirrors that some whine-about are even worse.

You have it figured-out. The 350 is OK (just barely). It's not like 3.5L V6's are uncommon, in lesser (FWD) vehicles. But hey, RWD costs more (and is worth it).

In what way is the 8-speed a "drag"?

It may be true that you don't "need" 8 ratios, it's still a better tranny than the 6-speed.

"Boost spikes" causing serious damage? How does the "boost spike" get past the wastegate, and, should it fail, the protective fuel-cut?

I've already conceded that the turbos themselves are "wear...

It doesn't matter???

Sorry, but what you claim are facts are not. If something is made twice as strong/hard/whatever, it can take twice the mechanical "stress".

You do know, for example, that...

If the motor in engineered for the added stress of forced induction, there's no reason why it should not be as reliable as a NA motor. The turbos, however, should probably be considered a "wear...

I took the frame off of the front plate, and wanted to in the rear, but ugly bits show, with no frame. Rather lame, I thought. So, I'm still running the dealer's frame.

I went with the IS350, but before this I had a BMW 323i that had the same power/weight as the IS250, I thought it was spunky-enough around town, and decent for ramping-up to around 80 MPH or so. It...

I think my IS350 RWD is fun to drive, and I'm coming from an E46 BMW, renowned as a driver's car. CR, of course, chose to review the pokey IS250 AWD.

Plus, being a thin guy, the "cramped"...

Yes, but I notice that no one is claiming that front-heavy is better.

Mid-engined cars are best, but they are also more expensive and less practical.

Given a front-mounted engine, 50/50 is a...

Not a "myth" at all, actually. Good engineering, making for neutral, fun handing, as opposed to "safe" understeer.

Simply unimaginable? Many could meet or beat that. The Supa Turbo pulled 0.98 on the skidpad. Being an open-top (targa) car pushed it to a "not so light" 3500 pounds, too.

Is it "neutral", or is it understeering?

What is the weight bias on the RC-F? Worse than the already not-good 53/47 of the IS350 RWD?

Why doesn't Lexus make a 50/50 car, like my old BMW E46?

Says you. To me it feels like the torque is way down form peak by the time it upshifts anyway. With 8 ratios, the RPM's don't fall that much, either.
