You can send an oil sample to Blackstone for oil analysis, which is easy and great for piece of mind. Or you can just change it and drive it.

I'd use regular conventional oil or high mileage...

EDIT: The 4 bolts under the dash are 13MM, not 12MM and it needs to be a deep socket 13MM with a wobble and long extension to get to it. It's easiest to remove the lower trim panel and then have...

Mine sounds just like this, but it only does it every so often right after I tap the brakes. I assume it's on the way out. Luckily I found a 2001 BMC locally that I'll be picking up this weekend.
