194 and 168 are identical sizes and are interchangeable. 168 will be brighter, but it will not last as long as a 194.

And, yes I've installed 194 in the front.

Dealer will usually re-flash it for 1hr labor, but if you don't have an issue with how/when the transmission shifts right now, then don't bother with it.

Yes, the bung is for the rear 02 sensor. And, yeah the rear 02 is different from the front two, it uses a flange with one bolt and one nut instead of screwing right in.

I should add that for those only replacing the axle, you only need to undo the ball joint. There's no need to disconnect the outer tie-rod end and or strut.

I found a junkyard axle with 89k miles for $48 with tax. I'm probably going to buy it and just install that. And, I'll hang onto my old axle and keep it as a spare to fix eventually as you mentioned....

Most likely the noise is originating from where the steering column goes through the firewall. Apply some white lithium grease down there and it should quiet it down.
