I can't remember where I read it, but the GS450h does not use a real CVT; it is only CVT-like.

Thanks to bigger batteries & bigger electric motors, the 3GS450h does 0-60 in something like 5.2...

Yes.
Lexus' shared platform makes the IS & RC heavier than the M3/M4 (which have their own compact platform).

However the shared platform also makes the GS lighter than current 2010-17 F10 5...

Traditionally, most of the compacts and midsize cars platform share.
The 2007-14 C Class shares platforms with the 2009-16 E Class.
Likewise the 2003-10 5 Series shares with the 2005-12 3 Series....

Lexus is slow [but thorough] to develop aluminium chassis and small capacity turbos, so for now, the 2016 GS-F will be weak on horsepower, and low on power to weight ratio.
However, the GS-F will...

Just like the M5, AMG and RS6, the 2015 Lexus GS-F will have its pros and cons, strengths and weaknesses.
None of the individual makes and models are truly perfect.

It's just a matter of personal...

The GS normally has a 7 year model cycle.
Because the current 4GS was released February 2012, expect the mid-life update to be at the 3.5 year mark; so around September 2015 - only 9 months away...

The Germans and Japs have different personalities.
The Germans are good at innovation, and love quick pose, however they do not refine their designs well, hence lots of long term reliability issues....

Remember how the old Lexus IS-F used its own front end, but used the tail light lenses from the original 2006 IS250?
This could be true of the new 2015 GS-F too? It may use its own front end,...

I've driven both 3GS460 & 4GS350, and the 3GS460 V8 has no squirt nor poke at all.
That's because the old 460 is a "detuned" version of the LS V8.
I wish Lexus wouldn't detune their engines like...

The OP is considering a 550i V8.
Natnut's alternative of a GS450h not a bad idea, on second thoughts.

Lexus have two types of hybrids:
1) a performance hybrid eg the old 3GS GS450h, and
2) an...

Yes, unless you're at 9/10th, the GS450h's chassis is pretty good.
However, the GS450h will always be a whopping 375 lbs [170 kg] heavier than an equivalent GS350.
The GS450h actually tips the...

The GS450h's linear performance is unquestionable.
The old 3GS450h [designed for performance] is even quicker than the new 4GS450h [designed for economy].
I remember the old 3GS450h launching much...

I've crossed the C300/400, E400 and Genesis off my list; they are great cars, but personally not for me.
