Just get an exhaust to cover the sound :D. I usually have some kind of music on so the first 1000 miles wasn't really noticeable unless i had windows down.

You put the rubber gasket on the bottom edges to protect the side skirts from minor scrapes and yes it will be visible. You are drilling into the body through the existing holes in the side skirt....
