I am looking to buy a used rx350 and wanted the 411 on what to look for (common problems). I've done some googling and found

1) piston slap
2) rattles

Mileage is only part of the story. Years in service, former drivers (old ladies vs modders) and location are also important.

Rust and wear / tear on suspension components would be my 1st concern.

Salvage is a huge issue if you want to sell the car later. Most buyers won't touch a salvaged car

As people have said, it matters why it was salvaged. Avoid anything with frame damage

Unless you have a family member you trust to take care of the car, sell it.

A stored car can create a lot of problems and unless your car is super-rare, you can always buy one when you come back....

The last round of Saturns are rebadged Opels which are not bad cars. I think the smaller Buicks are the same as well
