Mister Blister's point is genius. If you cycle the top, the lid will open from the front so it doesn't matter that the latch is stuck. Stop in mid cycle and you'll have access to the frozen latch.

I'm guessing you might be able to do a manual retraction by hand. There are instructions in the forum you would need to search for. OTOH, they may presuppose the top being in a "mid close/open"...
