I get 19 MPG in the city on my 92 SC400 and 21 MPG in the city on my 95 SC400. Highway is a little better. I would suspect o2 sensors. MPG issues can be difficult to track.

Did you rule out your o2 sensors? I guarantee you that those need replacing. When I had bucking around 40 mph, I didn't even test them, I just replaced them all and all issues went away!

If you're worried about getting the threads stuck, use the anti-seize goo that comes with them. It does help against them getting stuck due to corrosion.

Both Duck05 and I used Darryl to rebuild our ECU as well as many other CL users recently. He comes with a lifetime warranty so if it is done incorrectly, he will repair the ECU till it works.

Usually, on SC's that is, tranny issues are either two things. Shift solenoid(s), or the ECU. I suspect the ECU if nothing has been done to it. The way this problem escalated would make perfect sense...
