I agree. Sometime the stock rims are bent near one or more of the spokes.
It's not visible to the eye but it'll cause the rim to not balance correctly; It's also non-repairable.

That's the issue: I put my old sensor back in but its still tossing codes that point to either the old sensor or the vcu. Sounds like you're leaning towards getting another '98 sensor (Y/N) Got one...

Mine were on pretty tight (both my original and the "new" sensor, that is).
