Do the boot repair. Aftermarket half shafts are usually junk anyways, stick with OEM and fix the boot. Doesn't look like much grease has leaked out yet, so I doubt the joint...

The 2009 has a timing chain as it has the 3.5L 2GR-FE engine same as found in the 2010. You are thinking about the older 2nd gen RX, 2004-2006 which had the 3.3L 3MZ-FE which had a timing belt.

I jack up from the front of the car under the engine on the frame (as shown in the manual), I then place the jack stands at the welds. Same for the back.

In regards to how much lift is needed, I haven't measured. You can't use ground clearance as a measurement because the suspension has travel when lifted.

I believe those wires are likely for the optional navigation system. If I recall correctly, that's where the DVD drive for the navigation system would reside, if so equipped.

Not every RX has had an issue with oil consumption. My RX with nearly 240k miles has no oil consumption issues with the original valve cover, and that includes high speed...
