Did you bench bleed the master cylinder? I had a nightmare of a time because I didn't bother. I'm no expert but I don't see the 1/4" diameter being a problem after it's bled.

$400-$500? Ouch. There's a yard around here with three 90-94 LS400s and last time I was there each one still had a transmission. Transmissions go for $60 and torque converters go for $20.

The FSM shows some more parts connected around the egr valve for CA models, at least for UCF1x. I've never looked at anything newer so I can only speculate. On the UCF1x there's some kind of air pump.
