pin hole

I'm truenorth and I started this thread. The rubber hose part in the picture failed, and there's no evidence of this if you hold the part in your hand and look carefully at it. I showed my mechanic...

RX350 and the trailer towing package

Be careful with this, Lexus friends. My understanding is that ALL RX350s between the serial numbers you will find back in this thread aways have the rubber oil cooler lines. There was no towing...

used engine?

Hi Blue Eyes.

I know the RX engine pretty well and I'm wondering how it could have a coolant leak. An assessment from a forensic mechanic, someone other than a Toyota or Lexus dealer would be...

Nine months

Hello community.

I'm TrueNorth and I started this thread way back in 2012 when my wife's oil cooler line failed. Lexus Canada launched a recall for the oil cooler hose assembly in early 2015 and...

Pretty unhappy with Lexus Canada (or maybe the dealer)

Hi there Lexus community.

I'm Truenorth and I started this thread way back in 2012. I documented the failure of the oil cooler pipe on my 2007 RX and started this discussion.

I'm pretty...

Canada?

There's a pattern here. It seems that the Canadian RXs got recalled, but perhaps the US owners' RXs didn't get this yet. I submitted the paperwork for Lexus Canada to re-reimburse me, but months...

Lexus Canada is up to bat

Hello Lexus fans here in Canada and abroad.

I'm Truenorth, I started this thread with the failure of my wife's RX oil cooler pipe. Look back at the first post, that's me.

As jhanbhaia pointed...

I believe that the pathetically bad idea to use rubber hoses to route 90psi blistering hot engine oil outside the block was made for the 350 engine, so RX350s from 2007 to sometime in 2011 will have...

I think you can see a tiny bit of the part from above. I'll try and take a picture.

Keithcp, unless you have an intimate relationship with a Lexus dealer (i.e. they say Hi Keith when you roll in and they've done every service to the vehicle), the chances of any relief are small. ...

A stock 2009 has the vvt and the oil cooler time bomb hoses. Check that they've been replaced. If not, and the vehicle is a great buy, do it immediately.

RX350 oil line

I believe that all RX350s 2007 to partway through 2011 have the faulty part. Other Toyota vehicles that use the 350 engine also have the faulty part, but some times it was an "option". For example,...

Any competent independent repair shop / licensed mechanic would do the job. If I hadn't been away from home, my mechanic Gary at "Gary's Automotive" would have done it for me. I had him do the VVTi...

Ya, taxes in Canada. The thirteen percent is six percent federal and seven percent Provincial. It's a VAT (value added tax) and you Americans will be getting one soon enough.

But, our health care...

oil lines

I believe that the 2008 RX has the rubber VVT line on the back bank, next to the firewall. The front bank has a solid metal one. Lexus will replace the VVT line under the recall, I believe.

Oil cooler line failure - no warning

There was no warning at all. No drips or small oil leaks. One day just fine and the next day all your oil is gone in twenty seconds. That's very high pressure in that hose, and a breach the size...

HTown, the mechanic filled the crankcase before he started it, that's why he was wearing that oil within a few seconds. The mechanic did the right thing and didn't contribute to the damage.

That recall is for the VVT hose, and this is something completely different. I have yet to take this junker to Lexus to see about the VVTi hose.

2007 RX Oil Line Failure - Catastrophic Consequences (pictures)

I was driving this, my wife’s car, when she smelled something like oil burning. I looked around for a truck or something, then within twenty seconds the oil light on the dash flashed quickly. I...
