Yep - sounds like they'll still get their $4k in "fees." When we lived in VA, we had to pay a semiannual county personal property tax on our vehicles - came out to $1000-1200 per year.

I believe in TX, on a lease, sales tax is on the entire sales price up front - hopefully you don't have to pay again on the residual value if you buy it out at lease end.

That works out to a little less than 28 cents per mile if all you are paying is the 1900 up front (not including MSDs which you should get back at lease end) and 390 for 27 months - seems pretty good...

Keep in mind that sales tax when buying a vehicle in VA is significantly less than we pay in CA so out the door comparisons might be skewed a bit.
