I've never had any issues with removing polish/compounds from whatever I'm wearing. I just throw the clothes in the wash and boom, they're clean. Is this not the case for you?

Yes, the primary cats are more expensive considering you will have to replace the manifold as well; however, I wouldn't necessarily say that they are more prone to fail as compared to the secondary...
