Default Tire selection help

Ok I just bought this car and tires looked decent and weren't to wear bars yet...so didn't think anything of it. Driving it..it tracks straight...seems to grip fine...but not a super quiet luxurious, ride but also acceptable. After all they are Michelin powersport...not sure the model...but think PS2. We all know when you put new tires on a car...it does transform the ride to a quieter smoother and better handling ride. I have a new set of wheels on the way and thought I would measure the tread on m tires...three are right at 4/32 and one is at 3/32. So now I am contemplating replacing them with the wheels while they are at it.

My question is what with. I am more in to comfort and quiet. Car won't be drievn in bad weather outside of an occaisonal rain storm. On here I read about Michelin Pilot sports the most. But which model? Is there a better alternative? Willing to payy more for better.

Here ar two links of Mich's I am looking at.

Any feedback is appreciated.

Thanks
Barry

Michelin ps A/S3's I think are a great tire for what you want. The pss and ps2 are a harsher ride, but more overall grip, and shorter life. Bfgoodrich sport comp a/s3's are a quiet, good riding tire. They also have a good tread life. For me I get new tires by 4/32's. At that time wet traction is greatly reduced.

Consumer reports top rated the Michelin pilot super sports.

by accident I had the as 3's on the car for 900 miles.

major difference in all areas with the super sports.

I went with the Pilot Sport A/S3 tires and really like them. Quiet, handle well and are holding up very well.

Just took off the Dunlop run flats on mine with over half the thread left and replaced with PILOT SPORT A/S 3+ 245/40ZR18 97Y XL BSW ULTRA HIGH PERFORMANCE. Loving them, Quiet and smooth ride. What a difference. Can't go wrong with these.

the draw backs for the op with the pss, is cold weather in Kansas. Driving them with the temperature under 45deg's F isn't good. They not only become hard and slick, but can crack and come apart. Pss Is absolutely great in warm weather, and if long life isn't an issue Around 20k and If you run a winter tire in cold weather.

When we bought our SC it had done only 2K miles with the Tiers. Front...245/35R19 Rear.....275/30R19....brand (NEXEN)
They seem to be pretty good, but I can't compare as I haven't been in another SC to feel the difference.
They were installed 18 months ago. Front were $152AU each, Rear $187AU each.

Thanks for all the recos.

I will add even though I am in Kansas...this will bee mostly a summer driver...if ever driven under 45 degrees...it will be very limited. I have read the reviews and asked Michelin...all comes back as the PSS. Just saying.

Carflashbob are you saying the PSS are more quiet, comfortable and handle better than the AS/3's...in summer conditions?

I've had pss and ps as3's. The pss tires have a stiffer sidewall. I didn't see a difference in noise. Pss has about half the life of the as3's.

yes quite a difference, I thought the as3's were good but the PSS are the bomb. 82 points on consumer reports.

quieter. Better ride. Turns better, I understand a new as 4 is coming.

If I knew the PSS wood be not available I would buy a set to store

Tires are a very subjective thing. So in the end you have to decide from all information, what attributes are most important to you.

Yes ....I see that...thought maybe there would be a clear cut better choice. I checked price and both are with $30 of each other...so that doesn't help. Mileage will better on the as3's...but then again car will onlyy see about 4k a year...so not that big a deal...ride is most important and I have a vote for each...so ride is probably close. New tires will always give a better ride anyway.

Thanks for all the info

read through reviews on tire rack, and pick out whichever one fits your needs. They are both great tires. I had five different cars at the same time and different tires on each one. It was because my needs for each car were different.

Read the consumer reports write up and the tire rack PSS reviews. I did. All of them
