Default P0325 knock sensor, Mechanic issues

so I was driving one day in the rain in downtown burbank and I lose power and get a cel, got it checked the next day and it's the knock sensor p0325, I have a 2002 sc with 130xxx miles. So I buy some knock sensors, didnt have them put on yet because $$$, and I took my car to a friend's Mechanic for a second opinion, and he says he hears the engine rattling a bit and now he says that it's the shims, maybe carbon build up, which is causing the code to appear, and that my engine is burning oil, and I might as well sell my car, so now I'm really upset about what I was told, I did some research on how to clean the buildup out of my engine, I put the lucas deep clean and filled up my tank, seems a bit smoother but I still have like 12 13 gallons left. Few things I'm wondering, could a bad/clogged cat cause carbon buildup? I smell sulfur when I accelerate hard, and smells rich when I first start the car, also have bad engine mounts if it matters, bought this car with a "perfect" engine a year ago and now I got these problems, my last sc never had problems, anyways, what can I do to clean up the engine, stop the knocking and pinging so I can have an 8 cylinder again, I read about oil treatments but are those safe? Thanks

Change your knock sensor. The car is literally telling you what's wrong yet you continue to persist with snake oils that won't fix it.

Now are you running 91or 93 octane? Replace the knock sensor. Till you do the computer can't adjust itself to stop knocking.

As far as burning oil goes. Get a new pcv valve. Even if it rattles or been cleaned. It has a spring in it and it does wear out or break.

Thanks for the replies, I'll have the sensors changed asap, are there any diys on removing the manifold? Haven't found any, also I didn't realize a faulty knock sensor would cause knocking, the other mechanic I saw threw me off with what he said, besides the removing of the manifold is it tough to switch out the sensors? I can't imagine it being too difficult, I always use 91, don't see any gas stations with 93 in la

Though not strictly a how-to this link will give you an idea what you're facing.
