Default Starting Issue

My friend has an 06 SC430 with around 160k miles on it now which he's owned for about 6 years. Earlier this year he had to replace the starter (went with OEM at the Lexus dealer). Just in the past few weeks, the car isn't starting normally - as soon as the temperature gets to around the freezing mark or any lower, the engine turns over and cranks fine with lots of energy but it takes several seconds longer of holding the key in the start position before it will "catch" and the engine starts running. Any previous winter (and in much much colder weather, even down to -30) it's never required the extra cranking time on cold starts. And, it's resulted in his remote starter not working right when it gets cold, since it gives up on cranking the engine before it "catches".

Wow we need more details. Without them we are just throwing spaghetti at the wall and seeing what sticks. Like when were spark plugs changed. Are the fuel injectors dirty causing hard cold starts. Mice filled the airbox with nuts? Tons of things it could be.
