Default 2015 = End of the line for NAV Gen-4 disc updates?

There was a thread about updating the NAV unit so an older SC could have a Gen-4 player.

Could have probably bought it cheaper on ebay, but too many "copycats" on ebay to suit me when it comes to software.
That got me to thinking about an update disc. This link: http://www.lexusnavigation.com/what-to-order/ seems to indicate that the end of the line for Gen-4 was last year. Is that correct info?

it is v15.1 and it was released Oct 2015
I don't know if they will release newer versions for gen 4 but this is the most recent update - maybe they update every other year?

I think 2015 is going to be the last update for Gen 4. I was more concerned about the vendor. The $40.00 price is very low for a factory part.

Let's face it...it's old technology and the WAZE app on your phone is much better!
besides, new cars come with free upgrades, just like phone apps...Garmin is finished.

Hi everybody, haven't been on much lately, mostly lurking, but with the passing of my wife, Deb and all, the SC is now mine and I drive a lot more now than I did before. This isn't about the disk, but the lighting of the screen. Hope you folks could help. Hope you don't mind me asking here.
When you have the nav screen open at night isn't it suppose to go to a darker background screen, instead of the lighter screen (daytime) brightness. Really didn't drive it much at night before.
I thought it would change by it's self, when the lights were on. It's kind of annoying to try and drive with the screen so bright. Thanks for any and all replies.

Check to make certain your dash light switch is not turned past the "click" that turns it to its brightest. If it is past the "click" the nav screen never loses its brightness. Hope this helps.

For GEN 3, it was 2012, the last DVD update.

First sorry for taking so long to rely to what everyone replied to my post, I was back in Penna and have just returned.
Second thank everyone for all the kind words about the passing of my wife Deb.
Third thanks everyone for all the good information about my problem with the lights
A special thanks to 2004SC you hit the nail on the head, the switch for the dash lights was turned pass the click. turned it back and the screen went to the dark mode
This is why I think this forum is just the greatest. Thank you everyone. Classy car, classy forum, with classy people. So glad I found this place.

Thank you! I had my airbag replaced last week. I was driving at night the other day, and the nav was really bright. I thought they broke something. I was pretty sure it used to be dimmer at night. I am going to check on this tomorrow.

SteadyEddy - so sorry for your loss....

This is the first I've heard of this trick. I'd love to update, but the maps from 2015 are still close enough for me to risk the computer.

The instrument cluster dimmer **** may be turned to "full." When it is set to "full" it will put all interior lights at maximum illumination, including the NAV screen.

Also, sorry for you loss Eddy. My deepest condolences.
