I wrote to a couple of suppliers, asking their advice. One option is kinda pricy. Links below.
Anyone have any experience with either of these?

I have switched all my OEM bulbs to LED from iJDMtoy. I think you're really looking into this too much. Any 7440 bulb from ijdmtoy (or ebay, etc) should fit without modification in the 2002. The later years have a closed housing which would require modification, as done by one of the members on this forum. In my opinion, the CREE are the brightest but these are reverse lights and aren't on too often, right. So it's all up to personal choice. There should not be any dash error light, as the I don't believe the reverse lights are monitored on the headlight light error system. As a side note, neither are the turn signals. Changing turn signal to LED without the resister will lead to hyperflashing, unless you get the "error free" or "built in resistor," type of bulbs for the turn signals.
