Yes the earlier sc430's still have a dip stick for the transmission. You can see it in the picture with the brown/red top.

If you click on it, it should go full size.

It's just below the number three spark plug coil, kind of Burnt orange or brown

My 2004 has the 5 speed transmission and the dip stick. Thought it was the 6 speed transmissions that did not have a dip stick.

Through 05 the sc430 used the A650E transmission. The only difference I know of is the removal of the dipstick tube. In 06 they went to the A761E transmission. I can't find any part differences between 02-04 and the 05 transmission.

It's just as clean under all the plastic covers too. I pull the wheels once a month and clean the wheel well and suspension bits. I pull the grill when I wash the engine bay so I can clean between the bumper and the ac condenser. I have trouble stopping. If I see something else dirty I just have to clean it too. I've tried just doing a good job but not worry about the little things. I end up going out the next day and do the rest because I can't quit obsessing over it. As my son says to me darn OCD.

Just another update:

Finally, got the fluid changed back to Type 4.

I noticed a quite obvious difference in torque converter behaviour: with the WS, the torque converter clutch would disengage immediately once the foot is off throttle (almost any speed). with T4, it's normal.

I'd like to ask a question:

Now, the level is exactly between min and max. Should I add some to bring the level to max (need to buy)? What's the difference between min and max? Is it 1/2 or 1/4 litre (quart)?

Thanks in advance!
