You need the Easr but you can check on the lexus accessories website. The details are in you manual but couldn't be easier. Open you trunk and remove the little cover for the Nav. It's on the right side on the wall of the top level. Slide the small door on the left side of the DVD reader to the right to expose the eject button. Press to button the the DVD comes out. Put in the new one. Slide the little door cover to the left. Put the outside cover back on and close the trunk. Turn on the accessories but no need to turn on the engine. The NAV system should read the new DVD and do its internal check then you are ready to go.

This thread caught my attention. Two years ago, I attempted to install a custom screen using the OEM bezel and also replace the climate control housing to remove the buttons.
Unfortunately, after parking my car against a shaded area, the screen was oozing and melting off the bezel and after that, I sort of gave up and installed a bluetooth module with my 6 inch smartphone used as my nav/entertainment/telecom. It worked so I'll make a detailed thread sometime this weekend if I have some time.

The NAV system does not have its own hard drive, so the DVD stays in the car to be accessed when new data is needed. You will see this in the delay when you change the search area state. Newer cars have put the data on a little memory card, which has no moving parts and the searching is much, much faster.

Hi, I nkow there are specific trehad for this but I'll try to used this as recently updated
SC430 2007 bought in US and imported in EU
I had a 2008 map in the player and I bought a Europe West E1C 2015-2016Ver.2 disc
no way to read it, still having the message 'insert the correct disk' with 2nd line in Japanese
the reader is working because previous dvd is loaded correctly and the new disk I got is readable as well on pc and it's anyhow original without any scratch
I thought the upgrade process was just to add it in the reader. was I wrong or there is a regional block?
thanks,

2013 was the last disk for SC430 IIRC
Also the disks may be formatted specifically for the Gen of the SatNav? Not sure.
I suggest you have a look at http://www.lexus-mapupdates.eu/ and put your old disk details in to validate what you have then look to see if the disk you bought is compatible.
