Default Advice: $670.00 For X-pel?

OK guys need your advice.
I have been quoted $670.00 for installed X-PEL on SC to include hood, bumper, headlights and mirrors.
Sounds steep to me but I value CL members opinions, so let me know what you think.
Thanks in advance.

I paid $950 for my xpel protection, but they did the A pillars by windshield, painted area above the windshield, inside the exterior door handles (fingernail scratch protection) and behind the rear wheels down low as well as all that you mentioned. Instead of xpel on headlights look at autosport magazine or online at their headlight protection. Theirs are a lot thicker and absolutely invisible. I've had a set on my LX 470 for 4 years and they are awesome. They are easy to install too. I put some on my SC 430. They are custom cut already for the car including fog lights. I live in Colorado where they sand the roads a lot for snow and it stays there long after the snow is gone. New headlights aren't cheap for these cars either. Good luck. It's a great investment to protect a great car.

Ian,

Yes, you wax just like normal. You will get a little buildup at the margin where clear bra stops, but just use a very soft tooth brush or plastic instrument to gently remove it. It works great.

Doc C ...

Your post indicated that Autosport offered a headlight protection kit that was thicker than X-Pel, but the only headlight protection item I could find on their site was, in fact, X-Pel. Their price was lower than X-Pel's though; $44.95 vs.$65.95.

BTW On a scale of 1 to 5 where 5=Expert, X-Pel gives their headlight kit a 4 for installation difficulty.

1NICESC430,

You are absolutely right. My mistake. The headlight covers are thicker than the thin clear bra that goes over the paint. The people that wanted to put the bra on my car wanted to cover the headlights with the same thin stuff and the Xpel headlight covers are much thicker. I'm not very good with stuff like painting or detail work, but I put the covers on myself and they look perfect. I would recommend that you have someone else as an extra pair of hands. Someone needs to run the blow dryer, while you apply the cover. You WILL get small air bubbles that stay there for about 3-5 days. Don't worry, they go away. They tell you this in the directions, just don't have a heart attack and curse my name if you have some small air bubbles at first. I'm sorry about the confusion, thanks for clearing that up. take care.

Doc C ...

Thanks for the heads up on the installation. The closest X-Pel installer just happens to be in the same town as my dealer which is 150 miles away. I'm going there Thursday to have non-RFs mounted and a spare kit installed, so maybe I'll drop by the X-Pel installer's place to see what he has to say about installing the headlight protection.

I'm not good at that sort of stuff either, so it's good to know that if you did it, and it's too inconvenient to have the installer do it, I can do it myself (with that other pair of hands).
