Just Purchased 2004 SC430...what next?
Hi all...just purchased a 2004 SC430 with 66,000 miles, Per Carfax, car was serviced at Lexus Dealership regularly and had 60K service performed, and oil change/new battery/new tires at 65K when non-Lexus specialty car dealer took ownership.
It's going off to my local Lexus dealership for the safety once-over for $125.
Car rode fine, no problems. 200 miles on it since I took possession late last week.
Purchased car from out of town dealer 100 miles away.
A few items I need to take care of:
1) vehicle now has new Z-rated conventional tires, must have had RFTs all its life as there is no spare. Need to get one now.
2) right front door speaker with nasty buzzing.
Nothing else major.
Anything in particular I should have the dealer check out?
Anything I need to watch for. Car must have been a weekend user with only 5,500 miles per year.
Engine compartment looks spotless. No lights on the dash coming on.
Looking forward to hearing from you. (Second time I have an SC430 - had one a few years ago, sold it...longed for another one!)
Thanks
Alan

Lead Lap
I had a 2002 that I added the spare tire and never liked giving up so much trunk. I now have a 2006 and I prefer to store a 12VDC air pump and a can of fix-a-flat for emergencies in the well where the spare would sit. I have used the compressor for a nail and would only use the fix-a-flat in an emergency if I couldn't make it to a tire repair shop for fear of damaging the TPM sensor. I keep the TPM system working so I have early warning of a flat tire. I know it doesn't cover a blowout, but I have never had one in 50 years of driving, so I'm willing to take the risk. BTW, I would do the same for run flat tires to pump up as soon as the TPM light came on.

I'm going with the 17 inch spare. I don't really care about loosing the trunk space. I had a 18 inch spare in my first sc430 and it's just the added insurance of knowing for me that if I have a flat I can have it changed out in about 5-10 minutes.

For what it is worth, I spent the money and purchased the spare tire kit.
Glad I have it and hope I never use it.

Spare tire here. Would not drive without one. Some of my friends say baloney.....get a roadside plan. I don't want to sit on the side of the road waiting for??????. My luck the flat would come at 9pm on Xmas Eve. I bought one for a Nissan off of fleabay for $40 to my door.

I keep the tire repair kit from Lexus. If the tire is punctured, I will use the repair kit and head straight to the tire dealer since I bought insurance on these tires.
