Interesting the following instructions say different.[ came off ebay lift support depot site ]

Remove the old support from the vehicle by placing a small flat headed screw driver under the U shaped band on the ends of the support. Slowly turn the screw driver and it will lift up on the band approx.1/8", then pull the support away from the vehicle and it will release.
To install the new supports do the same procedure in reverse. DO NOT jam the new support end over the ball socket without lifting the U band slightly or damage may occur.

So who is right

I would follow the directions. I popped my on . I probably didn't read the the directions. Just make sure on the new ones you don't remove the clips. I can see them being a bugger to get back on.

Default trunk struts

My question is after you put in new struts when you unlock the trunk with either the remote or button in the car should the trunk lid pop up or do you have to lift it up to access the trunk area. Most cars after up unlock the trunk the lid pops up a little to get your hand under the trunk lid. Thanks Jimbo

I just installed the Lift Support Depot aftermarket lift struts, and I definitely had to back the clips up on the new struts in order to get them to properly fit over the ball they attach to. It was actually pretty tricky getting the clips to pull back slightly without popping all the way out, but after fiddling with it for a couple of minutes, it was no problem. The clips on the new lifts would have definitely caused a problem trying to install the new struts without backing the clips out a bit.

Pops up about .5 to 1 in. Then you lift... about half way the struts push it the rest of the way up.

The trunk does pop up when you press your remote. The factory default setting was you had to hold the trunk button down on the remote I had my settings changed so it just a single press. The trunk will pop up and unlatch but you have to lift it up
