convertible top question
Newbie and am confused when putting down the top should the luggage tray be pulled all the way towards the back of car and hooked in the grooves. The manual says to set the luggage tray, what does that mean. Or should it be rooled in the backthanks again jimbo

Lead Lap
Top will not function if not pulled and hooked. If you get a flashing red light on the down button and the top doesn't move, then check the luggage tray before thinking something bad has happened

Thanks everyone
so what happens if your package tray is removed, then you cant use the convt top. It seems like this package tray is one on the most important items in this car.mine is fine just real dirty, might have to buy another one.to replace there are only 2 screws in the back is that correct.
I guess the part where you insert the package tray must have a sensor or something
how does this work.Thanks Jimbo

Pole Position
I do not understand the logic of this package tray. Why does it have to pull back for the top to operate? I guess, Lexus did this so you can not store anything taller than the package tray, in order to have enough room for the top and the back window to be stored.
When I shopped for mine back in Oct 15, I came to one dealer who had a 2008, looked pretty clean but the only problem was the top didn't fold down (because the package tray was not in proper position). If I knew what I know now, I would have bough that car. The funny thing is, the sale man at the dealer didn't know that either, he also thought that something wrong with the motor.

If you do this, you will eventually forget you left something back there and either damage the item or your roof!
BTW, the roll up cover is NOT called the package tray. The formal name is a Tonneau Cover.
This eBay link show you a package tray.
