Default Upgraded my garage

I decided I couldn't let my SC430 go to make room for the RC350 F Sport. Looking at my garage, I decided I could update it to stack the two I put down the snap deck flooring and added a 8000 lb 4 post lift. Turns out I had plenty of room with a 12' ceiling. Being retired, it's my biggest decision each day which car I want to drive

Default Very nice!

Holy smokes that's a nice setup, not only for storage, but under car inspections and oil changes. Sweet!

Very nice! A few questions: No doubt it's over engineered at 8,000 lbs, but what kind of warranty came with it and does it cover the car below?; Is there a mechanism that secures it in place once it's up to take off the stress off of the lift function?; and how long do these generally last?

The lift warranty only covers the lift and it's working parts for one year. The lift warranty does not cover the car below. There are locking paws at all four posts. You raise the car to the height you want it then lower it slightly so the locking paws engage and carries the weight and relieves the stress off the 3/8" steel cables and hydraulics. If a failure were to occur during a lift, it cannot fall more than 4" before the spring loaded locking paws will engage. The life of the lift is like anything else and depends on use and maintenance. I see no reason for the steel components to fail and the hydraulics are serviceable. I need it to last for 15 - 20 years, and I see no reason it can't make it. I might be more concerned if I lived in an earthquake zone.
It has been great having. I wax the cars standing up, have changed the steering rack bushings on the SC and drained and filled the transmission on my older RX330. It is so convenient.

Poqman- that looks great!

Did you modify your garage door? My garage door has a railing on either side of the door and one in the middle for the chain to pull the door. All of that would be in the way.

How did you decide on the lift model and brand?

Great setup. Have the same question - how to decide which model and brand and how much for the delivery and labor to setup ? Servicing costs per year ?

Poqman, that is sweet! How did you manage to wind up with 12' ceilings in your garage? That's quite nice also.

Thanks everyone for the interest. My lift research found most all the lifts come from China and are shipped to the U.S. and branded by different names once here. Two different lift names and prices may be exactly the same lift with different decals. I had the lift installed by Lifts Plus Depot. It costs $2640 installed for the extra tall lift I bought. I have 6'-2 clearance walking under the lift. I read about the lift here http://www.atlasautoequipment.com/pr...e-pro-8000-ext. The garage door was modified with a high lift kit so the tracks run vertical to the ceiling before turning and the garage door lift motor is commercial and mounts to the torque bar with the torque springs. This system works with your existing garage door. The revised door kit and motor run $1400. You do need a dedicated 20 amp circuit for the hydraulic motor, which I did myself. Now I know this sounds like a lot, but it's difficult to get approval for a detached garage in my development and $4000 is way cheaper than a detached garage. And the attached garage is easy to heat in the winter, but a detached garage would be expensive to heat.
I don't expect the annual cost to be high. Maintenance is greasing 5 zerk fittings and spray some WD40 on the tracks. Hydraulics have a 1 year warranty and structure has a 2 year warranty. If I wanted to change the hydraulic fluid, it would costs about $50, but there is no recommended schedule to follow.
