Default Eliminate the darn tire warning light!

I want to disconnect a wire to turn off the tire warning light. I've heard several wire options behind the glove compartment but it's confusing. Anyone have a easier clearer answer as to which wire is the right one?

I have a 2007 SC and it looks like it's not possible on the later models. I have tried the wires in the dash but the light remains on. I finally had the sensor replaced.

On a 2002, I believe it's quite easy to deactivate the light. My independent mechanic did it for me at no charge when he was changing my Timing Belt last month. It's a simple unplugging of a wiring harness under the center console, I think. The permanent thread mentioned by BGW should show you how to do it yourself fairly easily.

I was curious if this works on 06 on also. I have an 06 and it must be getting to the age the batteries will begin to die in the sensors. I wasn't sure the process in the sticky would work on the newer models.

The TPS sensor inside each of the tires each has a battery. So there are four batteries (one in each tire sensor). IIRC, you'd have to tear up the sensor to change the battery, so SOP is to replace the sensor once the battery goes down (or the sensor quits working, those are typically one and the same).

I am in the process of replacing my TPMS - just ordered OEM set of 4 sensors from an eBay seller ( Lexus dealership ). Will see how the process works as I try to get it done as economically as possible. Already saving roughly $150 + on parts by buying off eBay. Will try next to find the lowest install and program deal I can get. Local dealer wants about $500 in labor. Not hard to beat that.

Here is your best bet to save money, find a discount tire store, they should do it for next to nothing if not free. My store would do it for free, but I am a regular customer...
You can program the sensors yourself, just purchase techstream with the cable...it's about $25, eBay or Amazon, also plenty of discussion on CL

Yeah tried that once. Real good guys at a discount tire store where I got my after market wheels. They could not deal with the programming and had to send it to the local Lexus dealer for programming after they mounted the wheels and tires on the car.

OBP, correct. Discount tire cannot program the sensors, but you can.
Purchase the techstream software and cable for $25 on eBay or Amazon, then program the sensors.
I posted some screen shots of the software process in another thread.

If I find it, I will post the link.

Found the link, click here, it starts on post #192. You will see the techstream software and the process to program the TPMS sensors.

Thanks BGW70. Might explore that. Also thinking about the local Costco - they claim they have the ability to program the sensors for this car and they say they will mount my already ordered OEM sensors at $15 per tire. Have used this Costco tire shop before and they are decent so might give them a shot.

That would be awesome if they could program the sensors!

I believe I read somewhere that a Cosco was able to program TPMS sensors.

At some point I thought the SC430 added a TPMS programming switch somewhere near the or in the glove box. Can anyone confirm or deny?
