Default Parking sensor sounds while driving!

My Lexus SC430 parking sensor alarm sounds intermittently while I am driving. (No, I do not tailgate the car in front.)

It has happened several times, all but once when it was raining. On that one occasion, the sun was shining. It happened again today while it was raining, and continued to sound after the rain had stopped, but the road was still wet.

What could be causing this to happen, and how can it be prevented, please?

I have decided to fit an ON-OFF switch, if the problem cannot be solved conventionally.

What year is your SC430? I didn't realize that any SC430s in the US came with parking sensors. Are they aftermarket sensors?

I wasn't aware of parking sensors on any SC430s either. Odd...and you're sure it isn't the traction control (VSC) sound? How are your tires (tread depth) Or possibly some other warning beep?

My Sep 2006 SC430 is UK spec, and comes with front and rear parking sensors. Perhaps it is different from US spec.

No warning lights come on, and the sound is exactly the same as for the parking sensors. So, I assume that the problem lies with them.

I also have a Sep 2007 SC430 which does not have this problem.

I had this exact same problem with my new RX450h. It was intermittent but mostly when it was raining or just after it rained.

With the RX450h there is a display showing which sensor was triggered so I identified it as the left rear sensor on the rear bumper cover. The dealer replaced the sensor and problem has not returned. The first time I brought it to the dealer they didn't find any codes and could not duplicate it so they did nothing. When it did it again I took a video, showed it to them and they ordered and replaced the sensor.

Here is the video I took of the rear parking sensor falsely activating as I was backing out our driveway. It had just recently rained as you can see with the wet windshield.

Wow that is cool. I didn't even know that some models came with the sensors or built in Reverse Camera! I added my camera via NAVIKS. I wish I had known. Thanks for the informative lecture!

The video is of my RX450h factory installed reverse camera and factory installed parking sensors, not my SC430. I have a NAVIKS and license plate camera that I need to install in my SC.

There are 4 sensors on front bumper cover and 4 on rear bumper cover for a total of 8 sensors.

The backup camera and parking sensors are separate features. The parking sensor visual only pops up on the nav screen if objects are in close range of any one of the 8 sensors. I actually use the front sensor to gauge how close I am to objects or the wall as I pull into the garage. When I drop my wife off at the front entrance of supermarket and she walks behind the car it also alerts me.

Ohh sorry. Gotcha, FlyCT. Sorry I jumped the gun a little. Should have been more observant and noticed the screen isn't an SC. My b. SC430Steve, still not sure about what's causing the SC430's sensors to malfunction, as I've never seen an SC with them. It truly must be the UK spec that they are added, as well as the side marker light from the ones I've seen. Anyway, I hope a UK member can help you out or at least you'll be able diagnose on your own. Good luck.
