Make copy of my keys?
I had to order replacements for both of my cars the rx330 and the sc430. Now that i have them and have confirmed my ability to program them i am trying to find a place to have them cut/ copied. Anyone have any suggestions? I did order the colored keys though blue for the rx and red for the sc.

Call around to local hardware stores and locksmiths and ask if they can cut your supplied laser cut keys.
Most Lexus dealers will only cut a Lexus OEM key claiming that 3rd party keys may damage their equipment.
Here the local Ace Hardware store has ability to duplicate them for $29.95 each.

If you do a google search for Lexus sc430 key shell you will find them from $10 for aftermarket keys to $50 for Original Lexus Factory OEM key shell.
Many non-OEM shells are poor quality and you still need to get them cut locally.
My Lexus dealer not charge to cut a key that they sell. Check with your dealer.

I just made a copy of my OEM key that was starting to break. I've attached the thread below. I bought a flip key from ebay and it worked perfectly. Only cost me $45 to get it cut at a local locksmith. The Lexus dealer and a few others would not cut it as they explained that some aftermarket keys will ruin their machines. I went to a shop and they weren't really concerned. I just swapped the guts and now my flip key works great. I've attached photos in the linked thread. As I explained, it's a little more bulky, especially in the ignition, but once you get used to it, no problems.

The best replacement key on the market is the Eternity Key - it is stronger than anything else and carries a lifetime warranty, so it is the LAST key you will ever have to buy. Visit www.eternitykey.com for details.

I do not want to fill out a Lexus dealer form...ballpark works for me.
Does it have the Lexus Logo?

I was poking around on DealExtreme and stumbled on this (and a few others like it):

Can TechStream program keys?

Well, you can always use the gas pedal dance. I programmed my new master key that way. It's clunky and finicky but it works.
I wonder if the dealer would give you heartburn cutting an Eternity Key since it is non-OEM?

Google "techstream key programming" and tell me what you think.

It looks like it is possible with some Toyotas. I do not recall seeing the menu entries they are referencing, but admittedly I had never looked for them.
Supposedly there is a code on our keys somewhere HQY something or another. Where is this code located?

I am not sure about a code, is it a physical code stamp you are referring too?
If so, it may be on the transmitter (door/trunk controller).

The second is a key code which describes the cuts on the key itself. And this is apparently either stamped on the card key, a little metal plate you got when the car was new, or some can determine it from looking at the cuts on the key. It is also stamped on the locks or ignition but that is crazy talk!
So you need the FCC ID to get the right transponder/remote guts and the keycode to get your key cut.
