Default Rear Taillight Dash Light On

I just installed a new set of OEM LED taillights on my 02' sc430 bought the kit etc but I cannot get the dash rear taillight sensor to turn off. I called the local lexus dealer thinking they might have to reset it and spoke to the lead mechanic and he said i would need to rewire the lights. Has anyone come up with an easier solution?

If you changed the entire tail light assemble then that light on means you will also need the ECU .

Other members that have changed the entire assembles either they bought new ecu or the put black tape over the warning light on the dash, As far as I know the only answer to resolve this is the new ECU pretty pricey

Search and you will fine others that went through this

It is my understanding that when you install LED lights on a 2002 vehicle, the tail light sensor will come on because the ECU is expecting more current draw than the LEDs pull (there's quite a bit of difference). Another way to resolve the problem is by adding a shunt resistor across the lights to pull the extra current required. It is kind of a band-aid that defeats the health sensing feature of the ECU but works. I believe that there are a couple of threads out there where folks have done this already and you can just copy what they've done in the past. (Shawn might have done this one, IIRC.)

Whats in the 'kit'?

I recently replaced the 'stop' light bulb (2LEDs), learning to live with the dash light....
