I am just trying to save you from changing the knock sensors because what happens if they do not fix the issue. This is a really big job...
This really started happening all at once.
Thanks for your reply BGW.. I completely forgot about your suggestion since im in the middle of crazy packing and light didn't come on for like 4days so I thought I was ok But Ill actually do that by this weekend and report back.
Car has around 82k or so miles..
Spark plugs were done last year
Coil packs, hmm I must check!

Thank you for the suggestions really appreciate it.. Ill check all those things, clean the throttle body, run the tank cleaner and report back asap.

I hope that fuel tank cleaner can help .. thanks Harold!

ok guys so was very busy for quite some time moving to my new home and lost of renovations and stuff..

Finally got around to getting some fuel cleaner.. so I mentioned before I had already bought both sensors brand new unfortunately. Then I heard I needed the intake manifold gasket seals.. but before that I was asked to run a fuel cleaner by BGW.. I put it in the fuel tank.. and for about 5 days no luck so I went ahead and ordered the gaskets as well and they cost me about 100$. As soon as they arrived .. guess what my engine light went off ITSELF

so about 500$ of new stuff for NOTHING :S

Anyhow I'm glad the fuel cleaner worked so thank you guys for the help.. I noticed my VSC lights have stayed on though... I tried unplugging battery but no luck.. I saw a thread somewhere talking about putting a wire in the socket to jump something.. lol went over my head.. ill have to check again!

But yeah thank you guys!

ok so im having this issue again.. seems to happen often now but only with 91 octane.. with 94 i haven't had issues.. I wonder if my knock sensor is actually bad as my mechanic said its probably going bad.

Does anyone have a DIY for this sensor?

Do you purchase gasoline from the same place?

Is it possible the gas is bad, could it be old, have water or maybe they are putting 87 in the 91 octane tank.

Bimmer have you had any other codes or pending codes pop up with your knock sensor codes? Another question how many miles are on the car? Right before it first happened, did you get your oil changed or some other service?

I havnt had codes checked recently, so ill get it checked today and post, but last time it was just the p0325 so just one side.. and apparently there is no separate wiring harness in the SC like the ES so i cant change those.. how ever i do have the new sensors and intake gaskets sitting.

the car has about 90k miles and nope didnt happen after any service..

I dont think this issue ever went away, i dont drive this car in winter, but i did take it out at random times when the weather was really nice and no snow around (didnt seem to have any issues).

Well since you already bought the parts I would just replace them. The other thing I would do is, when I had the plumbing work off between the filter and throttle body. I would check it for cracking or if it wasn't sealed good. Any air leak after the maf sensor can cause a lean condition. This can then cause knocking to happen.

It's not about clean it's about checking for air leaks between those two. CRack in the pipe for example.

thanks Colerad..

so i got code checked again and its just the p0325 so only one side.

Next step is the leak check but i was wondering if there was a leak or anything wrong with fuel, wouldn't it trigger both sensors?

Thanks,

You already have the parts I would just change them. While I'm taking things apart I would just make sure everything was fine.

yes i am considering changing them now and will definitely check everything, but was wondering if there is any DIY .. couldn't find anything

I dont know how much work is required. Has anyone ever taken the intake manifold off (for starter change or anything? i assume timing belt covers have to come off?

thanks

Also location of both knock sensors is under the intake plenum which sucks since everything has to come off to get to it unless any one knows a trick to gain access please inform
