Spare Tire Installation with Photos
The Spare Tire kit arrived and I installed it this morning after Mass.
It took about 45min, but I am slow. It fits GREAT and I have peace of mind when we are on road trips.
I purchased from Concord Lexus in California via ebay. I asked for a discount and he gave me 10% off. The total was $680 delivered.
They even mounted the tire to the wheel, I did not know they would do that for me and it was a good surprise.
I peeled the black stickers off and that is where the rubber bumpers were installed.
Here are the black stickers
My photos are a little out of order.
A very clean installation!

Was it worth $680?
I could have purchased some nice mods for that money!
My Honda Odyssey was much cheaper to add a spare! But then again, no overpriced carpet pieces! ;-)
Time for some OT, to pay for the mod!

For peace of mind, I'd say it was worth it. The first time you get a flat in a desolate place, you'll be quite pleased that you have a spare. Thanks for the pictures. (I installed mine several years ago and don't regret it.)

Maybe its just that we have lots of crap on the roads around here and some really nasty pot holes, but my spare has saved me more than a half dozen times.
Plus, for the times that the tire itself has been damages beyond repair (think nasty pothole and damage to the sidewall), having the spare to drive on for several days while the new tire is being shipped in from Tire Rack is really convenient.
So I'd say this is a "nice mod." And well executed in the install.

Super DIY!
I value the space than the spare tire. I do carry a tire kit in case of an emergency (BTW is a FSport tire repair kit which looks nice and fits in cubbies on the sides. I also had the tires insured (hazard) if and when it gets punctured.

One of the best parts of the design of the SC430 is the amount of usable trunk space you have with the top down. With the "Peace of Mind" you now have, you have lost something much more prudent in my opinion.
How many flat tires have you gotten in your lifetime? How often do you drive without your cell phone?
When I ordered my 2007 SC430 in June 2007, I made sure the spare tire was not part of the order and have never looked back nor have I had one flat tire in 98,000 miles. Runflats were replaced at 18,000 miles with REAL tires.

The kit does not have one part number, each part has its own part number.
I don't have the list but Concord Lexus has the list and this is the dealer I used.
Make them an offer!
All of the part numbers can be found here,

Decided to update this spare tire thread.
i used the OEM spare tire cover and carpet as the templates, then used a drimmel tool to cut the board and a box cutter to trim the carpet.
i even reattached the black pull tab to the board.
when the tire cover is installed it looks the same except for the missing Lexus emblem.
the red car has the OEM spare tire kit.
the blue car has the altered OEM parts.
i still want to find another OEM tire cover and the tire hold down parts.
i might go to a salvage yard to look for parts off an LS430, the hold down bolt and ring may be interchangeable.
Lexus wants $40 for the bolt and ring.

I started looking around for spare tire parts, covers and hold down hardware.
while searching, I found this website called Megazip.net
they sell only OEM parts for cars, outboards, jet skis, motorcycles etc. and the prices are FANTASTIC!
here is what I ordered.
all of these parts are coming from Japan...note how all of the Parts are Toyota and not Lexus.
dont worry, they will be Lexus parts and will be just like what I have in the other SC430.
i saved about $130. It cost me $196 shipped.
i should have the parts the first week of Feb...not too bad coming from Japan.
hold off on ordering from them until I receive my shipment.
i will provide a review of Megazip.net.
also, if you do a search for Megazip here on CL, plenty of Lexus owners have used this company.

I have a question regarding your part numbers: I took my part number from the Lexus invoice in your post #1 which shows the rear cover as: 64771-24043-B0. In your post #12 from Megazip.net you are showing that same part as #64711-24041-B0. I am not sure which one to track down now. Has the part number been changed? Thanks for the web page. I think that will be a great source.

Did you have any problems on that web site that you posted? When I got off of it this morning I had 4 BIG OLD TROJONS on my laptop? I had to run malwarebyts and CCleaner to clean them off. I had not been any where else but the forum and the web page?
