OK, I assumed that II1 was that connector, but since there are numbers adjacent to the Homelink unit, there must be an additional plug connection there. I'm sure it will be obvious once the unit is out. Of course, if I have voltage at pin 5, the next step is to verify that pin 4 is well grounded. That's for tomorrow! Thanks again.

Yes, I would check the voltage using pins 5 and 4, also, I did not look but those pins may power the lights too...

Asking again, did you disconnect the battery to reset the car systems?

I just checked, the light power is on pin 1 and 2. Pin 1 is 12vdc.

Didn't do the battery yet. Will do tomorrow. I'll keep you posted.

Thanks again!

Disconnecting the battery did not do the trick. Now my seats have lost their memory and don't seem to want to be re-programmed, and my Nav system, working previously, now tries to load, fails and gives me the message "Please insert proper disk"

Guess I should have just disconnected my Homelink unit at the connector to drop power to it.

After removing and replacing the Nav DVD disk several times, it finally reloaded. Seats next!

OK, had to re-teach the seats their limits. Seat memory again working!

So, reading between the lines, to access the Homelink unit, there are screws behind the two map light lenses adjacent to the Homelink buttons? I assume the lenses and the plastic around them is what I need to take care not to mar when removing the lenses (by prying carefully).

You are correct.
Be very careful removing the plastic lenses.
Look carefully and you will see a small notch where you can pry.

Use plastic body tools or screwdrivers with masking tape over them to pry the lens loose. Even then be careful. I forget which works best but it is either the side near the windshield or the side towards the door. (We have a thread that covers this somewhere in the forum.)

I think I see the small recesses on the outboard (door) side of the lenses. Looks like one of the POs mucked up the surround a bit already (visible only very close-up).

Two things to be cautious about. Tool slipping. Nearly every map light assembly I have seen has a gouge across the center from some tool slipping when popping the lenses. The plastic is very soft. And that's number 2: If you're not careful, the soft plastic will get nicked while removing the lenses. They are in there really tight. I have yet to find a tool that didn't nick it.

If you have a strong suction cup, you might be able to pull out the lens without nicking anything. Maybe something like this?

I have a couple of those in the workshop. Maybe I'll give it a try tomorrow.

No! don't do that! Don't dig into the off white area at all. Those recessed tabs are awful small and deep, and will still dent the off white area. Use a pry tool from the windshield side! I made this mistake before. If you use a flat tool or even a taped screwdrvier and approach from the actual windshield glass you can pop off the clear housings that pop in over the bulbs. Much easier without any scratching. Just angle it into the plastic recess and then pry downwards. Trust me. I've learned from my experience on this one.
