So, I've been thinking about doing this for a while. I have had mixed feelings about it. One on side, I felt it cheapens the car to the level of the little Honda rice burners, but then Merecedes went and did it so that eliminated that excuse. I'm still unsure. There's a guy here that customizes these but he want's too much money. Can you link where you've purchased yours, please? Here's a link I started a while ago. I saw a few Camaros in my hometown that would have a light up BowTie on the trunk in red that would illuminate upon braking. It was pretty neat. Anyway, any links you can offer?

PS. I do feel that this is more "upscale" compared to the cheaper ebay one, I originally posted.

From the technical perspective, it's an interesting idea.
However, realistically the car will look significantly lower class (like the Kia and Hyundai 4 cylinder crew).
Also, it's very likely it'll fail within 6 months to one year (I've seen similar results in cheap "aftermarket" gadgets).
I would definitely put it on a switch, so that you can keep it disabled most of the time.
About the only place I'd actually "value" something like this is at a car show. I'd probably pay attention briefly, until quickly thinking it's Kia-esque.

I am not really a fan either but I did it, I would want to be really dim...actually, I would make the illumination adjustable.

When I first saw it on Mercedes I thought it was part of holiday decorations. I think during the holiday season it definitely looks OK. An on/off button would be convenient for that purpose.

Needs something to make it functional, rather than bling. I suggest sawing off the lateral lines other than the L, then inserting as many LED bulbs as it can manage...might be cool, AND a drl better than OEM.
OR, try same equipment change, then point it to the sky--LEXUSman?
